New to the Celox range, the Rapid Z Fold Gauze offers the same performance as Celox Roll Gauze, but in a lighter, smaller, slimmer form, making it more compact and easier to carry. It is easy to handle and reduces application time.
Highly effective Celox Rapid granules are bonded on to the surface of a stable gauze which will not compact under pressure. The natural formula ( the main component of which is chitosan found in crustacean's exoskeletons) works independently of the body's normal clotting mechanisms to clot blood even where normal clotting is slow or impaired. It prevents blood loss by forming a gel like clot as the Celox binds to the surface of red blood cells. The function of chitosan is not affected by external factors such as body temperature (hypothermia or heat) and works in heparinised patients and patients using aspirin. Chitosan causes no exothermic reation and is not toxic. After use the wound is easily rinsed with saline. Any residual chitosan is broken down by lysozyme, a human enzyme, to leave glucosamine, a sugar normally found in the body.
Celox Rapid Z Fold Gauze has been tested in controlled environments and successfully used in combat and by emergency services. It is a product that combines well with the use of the Emergency Bandage.
